Biografia
**Pavan Wadeyar** (born 10 December 1987) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, lyricist, and producer who works predominantly in Kannada cinema, alongside ventures in Telugu and Hindi films. Known for his youthful romance narratives, energetic pacing, and chartbuster musical sensibilities, he is one of the most prominent commercial directors of contemporary Sandalwood.
Born in Kunigal, Tumakuru district, Karnataka, to Geetha and Gajanana Wadeyar, Pavan grew up alongside his elder sister, Ashwini Madhusudhan. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree with distinction and initially took up a corporate career, working for Fidelity Investments in Bengaluru for eight months. Driven by a deep-seated passion for storytelling and filmmaking, he resigned from his corporate job to enter the Kannada film industry, beginning his career by assisting veteran director Yogaraj Bhat on *Pancharangi* (2010).
He made an explosive feature film directorial debut with the 2012 romantic comedy *Govindaya Namaha*, starring Komal Kumar. The film became a massive commercial blockbuster, bolstered globally by the viral chartbuster song "Pyarge Aagbittaithe," which Wadeyar also penned as a lyricist. The film earned him the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director (Kannada) and established him overnight as a dynamic young talent. He subsequently remade the film in Telugu as *Potugadu* (2013), starring Manoj Manchu, which also achieved commercial success.
Pavan cemented his A-list status in Sandalwood by directing high-profile commercial blockbusters. He delivered the mega-hit action romance *Googly* (2013), starring Yash and Kriti Kharbanda, which became one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of the year and earned him the SIIMA Award for Best Director (Kannada). He followed this with the commercial action drama *Rana Vikrama* (2015), starring Puneeth Rajkumar, and the comedy drama *Jessie* (2016). In 2019, he reunited with Puneeth Rajkumar for the social-commercial entertainer *Natasaarvabhowma*, which opened to massive box office numbers.
Expanding beyond directing, he launched his production banner, Wadeyar Movies, producing and helming diverse content, including the romantic drama *Raymo* (2022). He also expanded into Hindi cinema with the relationship drama *A Wedding Story* (2024). In his personal life, Wadeyar got engaged to actress and fashion designer Apeksha Purohit in December 2017, and the couple married in August 2018. Balancing directing, screenwriting, and film production, he remains a key creative force in modern Kannada commercial cinema.
