The protagonist of the film, Druyanov, is the director of a large boiler manufacturing plant — a talented man with vast life experience, capable of understanding current challenges and looking into the future. However, he is about to be dismissed from his position. A young appointee is in no hurry to take over and comes to familiarize himself with the plant.
