The gradual assimilation of the people into British culture deeply affects Minyeli Abdullah, who is devoted to his traditions. Abdullah is arrested during a raid on his home. After Abdullah is imprisoned, his wife Sevde goes to her father's house. Under pressure from her family, she divorces her husband.
