Little do they know that Xiao is actually a rich heir who just returned from abroad, hiding his identity to investigate a family scandal, and that he is Nian's childhood friend he has a marriage pact with. Xiao cleans up and happily plays the role of his boyfriend, but Nian's family still constantly tries to humiliate him. Xiao handles it with ease, proving his worth.
