The eldest daughter Lenka is currently experiencing her first real love for the student Karol and wants to go to America with him. Her brother Milan spends a difficult period of puberty with a group of boys who amuse themselves by spying on couples making love. The nine-year-old accordionist Katka is jealous of her five-year-old sister Milka, because she thinks that her mother pays more attention to her. The story begins at the moment when Marta announces to Jozef that they are expecting their fifth child. The events that follow are a difficult but at the same time necessary test for all family members...
