Biografie

Charles Jarrott war ein britischer Film- und Fernsehregisseur. Bekannt wurde er vor allem durch seine Kostümdramen, die er für den Produzenten Hal B. Wallis inszenierte, darunter „Anne of the Thousand Days“, für den er 1970 mit dem Golden Globe als Bester Regisseur ausgezeichnet wurde.

Obwohl „Anne of the Thousand Days“ für mehrere Preise nominiert war, schrieb die Kritikerin Pauline Kael in ihrem Buch „Reeling“ (Warner Books, S. 198), dass Jarrott als Regisseur weder Stil noch Persönlichkeit besaß und lediglich „ein Verkehrsmanager“ gewesen sei.
