Maria is a doctor and a mother to a young daughter; she still holds out hope that her husband, who went missing in the mountains, will return home. This state of waiting is driving her to the brink of madness. But fate has even harsher trials in store for her, pulling her into a turbulent sequence of events involving four men from her own circle. Threatening phone calls, bizarre encounters with strangers, being followed—and, ultimately, an attempt on her life. Maria’s nerves are frayed to the limit; she begins to suspect everyone. Pushed to the edge, she enlists the help of a private investigator to launch her own investigation…
